Elizabeth Pearson

Elizabeth Pearson (Liz) specialises in advising business owners, entrepreneurs, and their families in respect of their succession planning. Her focus is on helping her clients make clear, well-structured decisions about the future — whether that involves reviewing Wills, lifetime giving, the creation of trusts or establishing Family Investment Companies. She also provides specialist advice on complex, often multi-generational, trust structures, frequently supporting trustees with the governance and reorganisation or restructuring of such trusts.

Since qualifying in 2012, Liz has refined a practical and collaborative approach to estate and succession planning with her clients. She frequently works alongside her clients’ wider legal, tax and financial advisers to shape bespoke, efficient and pragmatic solutions that look beyond traditional estate planning structures and consider the bigger picture. This can involve collaborative planning that includes the preparation of nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, a review of pensions, life policy trusts and business structures. Liz is also often instructed by other professionals to assist in the review of complex trust structures, Wills and estate planning arrangements in the context of divorce proceedings or corporate transactions.

Clients often come to Liz at times when careful planning is required. She takes time to understand what is important to them and their families, and aims to provide advice that is thoughtful, practical and clearly communicated. Liz values the longstanding relationships that she has built with her clients and professional advisers and takes pride in the fact that many of her clients find her by way of “word of mouth” recommendations from her existing clients, or introductions from other professionals.

Alongside client work, Liz has been an active member of the Leeds private client community since 2010 and was appointed Branch Secretary of the STEP Yorkshire branch in 2025, having joined the committee in 2023.

Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family – including her Labrador, Dallas (who is generally less interested in tax than she is, but just as interested in cheese). She is happiest when she’s near the sea, wandering around an art gallery, with her head in a history book, or listening to live music.
