Excello Law is delighted to announce that Sian Heard, a highly experienced shipping specialist with over 30 years of commercial shipping litigation expertise, has joined the firm. Sian brings a wealth of knowledge in maritime law, having acted for insurers, shipbrokers, agents, and principals in complex disputes. Her extensive experience covers charterparty disputes, ship sale and purchase agreements, and shipping derivative contracts.
Sian began her legal career as a partner at a prominent City shipping law firm before founding her own practice in 2004. Prior to joining Excello, she served as a consultant for the boutique maritime law firm Roose and Partners, where she advised on a broad range of shipping and employment law matters.
Her significant experience in arbitration, handling cases under LMAA, ICC, and LCIA rules, as well as her litigation work in the English High Court, has earned her a strong reputation within the maritime industry. Sian is also known for her pragmatic approach to dispute resolution, prioritising mediation and cost-effective solutions for her clients.
Jo Losty, COO of Excello Law, said: “We are thrilled to have Sian join our team at Excello Law. Her extensive experience in commercial shipping litigation and deep understanding of the maritime industry are invaluable assets to our firm. Sian’s client-focused approach and dedication to achieving the best outcomes align perfectly with Excello’s ethos. Her arrival also strengthens our offering in maritime and marine law, following the launch of the specialist marine law firm Cargo Law with Charlotte Gale earlier this year. Cargo Law was set up within Excello’s house of brands to provide focused expertise in this sector, and Sian’s addition reinforces our commitment to growth in this area.”
Sian Heard commented on her move: “I am excited to be joining Excello Law, a firm that offers a dynamic and flexible platform for lawyers. I look forward to working with a talented team and continuing to deliver high-quality legal services to my clients.”
