Andrew Rimmer is a specialist Construction and Engineering Partner with over 30 years’ experience in construction disputes and transactions in a variety of national, regional and boutique law firms in the UK. Andrew promotes the benefit when drafting a contract of understanding the way in which the contract might be interpreted by users and adjudicators.  Andrew works for a mix of clients including a large national developer and various national contractors and sub-contractors. Andrew has worked on adjudications for both parties since 1998 and advises on all the standard forms though he acknowledges that in the UK, the JCT and NEC forms are the market leaders.

Andrew is a passionate supporter of junior lawyers and provides training support to colleagues and clients. Andrew has a direct and positive style and has been recognised in the legal directories (Chambers and Legal 500) for many years.

Andrew's Experience

  • Successfully defending a developer against an allegation of wrongful termination in adjudication in connection with a prestigious apartment scheme in Altrincham.
  • Negotiating the construction document suite on behalf of a Major Salford contractor for a £150M prestigious city centre hotel project in Manchester
  • Advising a freeholder on its rights and obligations concerning the replacement of unsafe cladding on parts of its estate. Preparing the construction document suite for multiple sites for this and other owners including advising on the DLUHC grant documentation.
  • Preparing and negotiating the construction document suite for a national developer in connection with the fourth phase of redeveloping Europe’s largest listed building.
  • Successfully defending a smash and grab adjudication concerning the 27th payment application on a North West residential scheme

Andrew’s son both inspires and frustrates him daily, and in his spare time, he enjoys skiing and mountain biking (with a motor these days). A veteran of men’s lacrosse with some trophies in the cabinet though admittedly unlikely to be added to. He has supported Man City through dark times and is enjoying some time in the sun!
