Silvia Schmidt studied Law and French at Trinity College Dublin, as well as Legal and Political Theory at University College London. She qualified as a solicitor in London in 2014.Having trained in finance she transitioned to entertainment law and media finance and has worked in all areas of film and tv since 2014. She gained experienced by working first in a boutique media law firm and then in-house for a big film financing company in the UK. Since becoming a freelance consultant in 2019 she has represented tv and film production companies, individual producers, equity investors, collection houses and financiers.

Acting for a financier to contribute to the financing of a feature film; drafting and negotiating the loan agreement, security agreement and all required ancillary documentation.
Acting for a producer to negotiate an option agreement and a writer agreement in the development of a feature film for which the producer had provided the idea and the treatment.
Acting for a production company to negotiate the terms of investment (and all required ancillary documentations) by an equity financier and all required production contract for a feature-length documentary.
Acting for a rights-holder in negotiating an option agreement with a production company that wanted to use some of his underlying materials for a feature film.
Acting for a production team to negotiate the terms of a podcast agreement with a commercial broadcaster, with the podcast being based on that production team’s YouTube Channel.
