Marie Proud has specialised in all areas of private family law for in excess of 20 years. In that time she has worked throughout the North Staffordshire / Chester areas as a Partner and Head of the Family Department.
She is an excellent communicator and is empathetic towards her clients. She deals with her clients with a holistic approach to guide them through their journey of separation, no matter what the basis of their family dynamics.
Marie understands that when dealing with separation and related children / financial matters it is a highly stressful and emotional time. She prides herself on being a pivotal role to support and assist her clients, enabling them to start their next chapter.
She is an excellent negotiator and also trained as a collaborative lawyer. She offers an initial free non-obligatory appointment and can facilitate meeting either via telephone / video / face-to-face. Marie works mainly in the North Staffordshire / Chester areas but is able to assist clients regardless of their location.
Marie 's Experience
- Representing an unmarried father in Children Act court proceedings, linked with Schedule 1 court proceedings, to achieve a shared living arrangement for the children between the parents with provisions being put in place for the accommodation arrangements.
- Representing grandparents who were seeking contact with their grand-daughter despite their estranged relationship with their son.
- Representing an adult son who was an intervenor in his parent’s divorce whereby he retained an interest in the family home that they had shared.
- Representing a wife to secure an injunction against her estranged husband and obtaining an Occupation Order to enable her to occupy the family home whilst divorce / financial matters were being dealt with.
When Marie is not working she enjoys spending time with family, including her three young grandchildren, and her friends. She enjoy travelling and socialising.
