Katie Brassington is a private client lawyer based in our Chester office. She has over 18 years’ experience advising individuals, families, trustees and business owners across Cheshire and North Wales.

Katie trained and has worked as a lawyer in some of Chester’s most prestigious law firms. She is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).

Katie specialises in

  • trusts and trust administration, acting as independent trustee for many trusts

Katie's Experience

Improving a widow’s financial position by unwinding a series of complex, unnecessary trusts which were costly and not tax efficient

Securing significant IHT relief by restructuring a business after the husband’s death, securing business property relief for the widow’s estate, saving several £million off the IHT liability

Supporting the executors of a complex estate, helping with the apportionment of tax liabilities between executors, trustees and the recipients of lifetime gifts

Acting as executor in a complex estate in which the beneficiaries had fallen out, to provide a transparent, fair approach to avoid further friction amongst the family

Katie enjoys supporting her two sons at their hundreds of sporting events, catching up with friends and family and walking her ‘bonkers’ dog in the lovely Cheshire countryside.
