Gitta Altmann is a bilingual, English and German speaking, corporate and commercial lawyer with close to 30 years’ experience acting for UK and international clients. Her clients rate her in particular for being proactive, responsive and approachable, and for giving pragmatic and commercial advice.

Having established longstanding ties to the business communities from the wider DACH region, Gitta was appointed as the official legal adviser to the Swiss Embassy in the UK in 2023. She is also a Trusted Adviser (Vertrauensanwalt) of the London Foreign Trade Centre /Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and the German Embassy in London includes her on its list of approved German speaking lawyers.

Gitta’s corporate and commercial work covers the full range of corporate transactions including:

  • business and share acquisitions and disposals across sectors
  • shareholders’ agreements and joint ventures
  • capital reorganisations and share buy-backs
  • commercial contracts, including complex distribution, manufacturing and supply agreements.

Gitta also has extensive employment law experience, advising clients on employment contracts, directors’ service agreements, workforce reorganisations and dismissals as well as providing TUPE advice and advice on settlement agreements.

She spent seven years as Head of the Company, Commercial and Employment team at a London law firm before joining Excello.

Gitta divides her time between the UK and Germany and enjoys travelling widely. She works hard at staying fit with weight training, swimming, cycling and hiking.
