Future of Law panel event with former BBC legal correspondent Clive Coleman

Excello Law is hosting an exciting panel discussion event during the Leicester Business Festival on ‘The Future of Law’ chaired by former BBC legal correspondent Clive Coleman, now a senior partner at Maltin PR.

Of interest to lawyers in private practice, particularly those with supervisory or managerial responsibilities within a firm or looking to set-up their own practice, our ‘Future of Law’ panel event will look at a number of key opportunities and challenges facing the legal profession including:

  • Changing working practices post-pandemic
  • Future trends in tech and innovation
  • What are the demands from clients in the next 5 years
  • How do we ensure the right training opportunities for juniors during WFH or hybrid working
  • PII renewal challenges – future options for SME firms

The panel will consist of:

Our panel:

As the BBC’s Legal Correspondent, Clive Coleman was the face and voice of legal coverage and analysis across the BBC news output on radio, television and the website.  Drawing on his years as a practicing barrister, he covered a vast range of domestic and international legal stories and issues including 2019’s momentous Supreme Court prorogation case, Brexit, the growing courts backlog, the Barclay brothers ‘Ritz’ dispute, GDPR, the VW emissions scandal, phone hacking, Sir Cliff Richard v BBC, and the Hillsborough tragedy inquests.  Clive is now a senior partner at Maltin PR.

Gina Samuel-Richards is the President of Leicestershire Law Society and Co-Founder and Co-Director of AGR Law Solicitors, establishing the firm in 2016. Prior to launching her own firm, Gina gained a wealth of experience working for solicitors in Leicester and London. Gina is well respected in the Leicester legal and business community and her firm has won the Leicestershire Law Society “Small Firm of the Year” in 2019 and was a finalist for the Law Society’s Excellence Awards.  Gina herself has been a finalist as “Entrepreneur Woman of the Year” 2019 at the East Midlands Women’s Awards.

Paul McConnell is a senior lecturer, Head of Global Engagement and Head of Careers and Employability at Birmingham Law School at the University of Birmingham and worked as a solicitor before moving into legal education. He was LPC Programme Lead at the University of Law for several years and joined Birmingham Law School in 2018. Paul is the Law School’s Director of Careers and has a particular interest in supporting students in developing their employability and professional skills. Paul is also the Law School’s Head of Global Engagement, and is keen to engage with universities, alumni, employers and prospective international students worldwide.
