Excello Law wins ABS of the Year in Modern Law Awards

National, new-model law firm Excello Law has won the ABS (Alternative Business Structure) of the Year award at the Modern Law Awards 2017/18.

Founded in 2009 as one of the first law practices to adopt a limited liability company structure, Excello Law is a fast-growing, national law firm providing a more dynamic, forward-thinking and independent environment in which to practise for experienced, senior commercial lawyers.

The firm was set-up in direct response to Managing Director George Bisnought’s experiences as a lawyer.  He believed the traditional equity partnership and hierarchical structure of many law firms did not meet the changing expectations of either lawyers or clients and set out to establish a new-model firm offering an alternative, credible career path for senior lawyers within private practice.  Excello Law acquired its licence as an Alternative Business Structure in 2013.

The firm has grown in just eight years to a team of over 85 fee-earners, with year on year growth averaging 30%. With five UK offices in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Chester, Excello also has an office in Sweden and a strategic alliance with new model firms in the US and Australia.

Excello Law was one of the first law firms in the UK to pioneer true agile or flexible working. The model reduces overhead costs and uses leading-edge technology to give freedom to lawyers and provide better value legal services to clients.  Excello won the Law Society’s Excellence in Law Management Award in 2017.

Now in their fifth year, the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Awards were launched to celebrate and identify sparkling talent and success in entrepreneurship, market development, business management and best practice in the modern legal services arena. The Awards reflect the ever-increasing re-organisation, new legal entities and business dynamism of legal service providers since the Legal Services Act came into force offering a unique and timely opportunity to celebrate not only innovative business leaders, but those changing the face of business strategy and development, regulation management and client care.
