Excello Law is delighted to announce that Alexander Massey has joined the firm, where he will lead its tax incentivised venture capital and incentives offering.
Recognised by The Legal 500 for his expertise in corporate tax, Alexander brings extensive experience from his previous roles at Grant Thornton (UK) LLP, Knights PLC, and Shoosmiths (UK) LLP, where he most recently served as Head of Legal Innovation for the Corporate Division in London and as a senior tax associate. A registered solicitor with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and a part-qualified accountant with ICAEW, Alexander’s wealth of knowledge spans a wide range of complex tax issues.
In his new role at Excello Law, Alexander will focus on advising clients on SEIS, EIS, and VCT venture capital schemes, having worked closely with HMRC to help develop its e-portals for these initiatives. He is also an active member of HMRC’s research and development consultative committee, contributing to the UK’s R&D tax credit programme.
Beyond his work with tax incentivised venture capital, Alexander’s expertise includes negotiating tax covenants, securing stamp duty relief for corporate restructures, drafting documentation for share option exercises, and implementing new management incentive plans.
