Magdalene Haywood, an experienced commercial property solicitor based in Brighton, has joined new-model, national firm Excello Law from Mayo Wynne Baxter in Sussex.
Qualifying in 1983, Magdalene was the co-founder and managing partner of Davies Lavery Solicitors which merged with international law firm Kennedys in 2008. She has a master’s degree in Advanced Legal Practice (Commercial Property) and is a former visiting lecturer at the University of Law in London.
Specialising in property development work, Magdalene acts for both developers and landowners, and has worked on a number of high-profile projects including developments for national food retailers, a hotel chain and operators of coffee outlets. Magdalene has taken such schemes from site acquisition, through the planning and construction phases, to the letting and disposal of the completed development to institutional investors.
On joining the firm, Magdalene commented: “The ability to work flexibly and to respond to change, with speed, has never been more important than it is today. I am fortunate to be joining Excello Law at this time. Its established and progressive business model will enable me to deliver legal services to clients more effectively and innovatively as we approach the new normal.”
Joanne Losty, director at Excello Law, said: “Magdalene is highly experienced across all aspects of commercial property law, particularly major developments for household names in the leisure and retail sectors, and we’re delighted she’s joining our growing team in the South.”
