Bournemouth commercial property lawyer Nigel Turner joins Excello Law

Nigel Turner, a commercial property lawyer based in Bournemouth, has joined new-model national firm Excello Law.

Nigel is a residential development and affordable housing specialist advising SME housebuilders and private landowners on all development transactions, including strategic land options, conditional contracts, overage agreements and section 106 agreements.

Qualifying in 1977, Nigel is an experienced solicitor whose career has included roles with Berwin Leighton and running his own practice before joining housebuilders Redrow Homes (SE) Ltd as an inhouse solicitor, and subsequently as group legal director for Pivotal Homes, a group which includes a registered provider of social housing.

He has developed a specialist knowledge of affordable housing and volume housebuilding both in the private sector and with registered providers.  He is a director of Future Housing Initiative, exploring ways in which the supply of affordable housing can be accelerated using commercial principles, and a director of Grevayne Social Housing.

On joining the firm, Nigel said: “I have dealt with many law firms over the years, but rarely come across one with the friendly and flexible ethos of Excello. This platform is ideal for lawyers of varied skill sets to fulfil their potential on their own terms. By way of example, within days of joining I became involved in a project to set up a Housebuilders and Affordable Housing Group for property lawyers within the firm and met with nothing but encouragement from colleagues and management alike.”

Joanne Losty, director at Excello Law, commented: “As social and affordable housing increasingly reaches the top of both local and national government agendas, Nigel’s significant experience and networks will bring additional opportunities to our property development team.  We’re delighted to welcome him on board.”
