David Cooper has practised in commercial dispute resolution and employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, for almost 40 years. Prior to joining Excello, he spent his entire working career in Birmingham, initially with the large city centre practice where he progressed from trainee to partner, and subsequently as one of two partners in a suburban business and employment law practice focused upon advising executives, managers and small and medium sized businesses.
He now practises from home close to Wolverhampton. Alongside commercial disputes, he has a particular interest in Settlement Agreements, frequently as a first point of employers’ recommended referral as an independent adviser. He was on the winning side of restraint clause disputes in the Court of Appeal in SafetyNet v Coppage and PSM v Whitehouse.
Chess, foreign travel, stock market, live music (mainly classic rock and country & western), playing the guitar and composing parodies, walks with the Labrador, writing legal fiction.
