Law360 interview with Jo Losty

“You’re rewarded and defined by your own efforts and success.”

As part of Law360’s 5 Questions series, Excello Law COO Jo Losty explained the appeal of the firm’s non-traditional structure and why it benefits senior and younger lawyers alike.

In the interview, Jo explains how Excello attracts talented lawyers by removing a strict hierarchy and ensuring every individual benefits from their own success. “Once lawyers make that decision to move to us, it’s a long term decision and that’s how we’re able to retain our consultant lawyers,” Jo notes.

Jo also addresses myths and misconceptions about the consultant law model, noting that younger lawyers are increasingly interested in Excello’s offering and that the firm does have a collaborative team-focused approach, even while lawyers are free to work where they choose.

The interview also covers the increasing importance of technology in legal practice and how Excello has been ahead of the curve: “When you think about where we were in 2020 with the pandemic, lots of firms were seriously challenged by the ability to put everybody at home and work. We had done that 11 years before,” Jo explains.
