James Browne is a leading Corporate and Real Estate lawyer. James deals with international clients and has experience dealing with transactions involving many offshore jurisdictions.
James spent 7 years at an international law firm headquartered in the City of London where he gained significant experience in real estate and financing law. He then moved to a 3-office boutique London firm where he was partner in charge of all commercial matters.
James works in two main practice areas.
- Commercial real estate advising developers, landowners, investors and corporate occupiers with complex, large-scale and high-value real estate transactions. James specialises in advising his clients on all aspects of their real estate needs, with a particular focus on development of large scale ‘new settlements’ with associated infrastructure; residential development; commercial real estate development and investment and urban regeneration; and
- Corporate matters advising a diverse range of clients, from start-ups and family run businesses to PLCs, on corporate finance, M&A, investments, and general company law matters. James’ clients operate in a wide number of industry sectors, and he regularly acts on transactions with an international and cross-border element.

- Strategic Land and Development
Acting for a national developer to successfully enter a complex, conditional land swap agreement in Cambridgeshire. This multi-million pound agreement will allow a new gateway junction on a major highway to facilitate two significant residential and commercial development sites.
- Urban Regeneration
Successfully acting for a number of landowners on a strategic development with a renowned property developer on the multi-billion pound regeneration of Tottenham Hale, London. Including the pre-letting of commercial space to a national supermarket chain.
- Office Letting
Acting for a prominent film and TV company on the letting of an entire office building in the City of London including complicated fit-out arrangements.
Acting for two international law firms on the letting of their London offices in the Old Stock Exchange building.
- Corporate
Advising the sellers and their executive team on a successful multi-million pound sale of their international import company by way of a management buy-out.
Advising a Cambridge based biotech company on all its corporate finance needs including raising significant sums in seed investment and funding from the British Business Bank.
When not working or spending time with his young family, James is a keen sportsperson. James has played hockey for Ireland over 35s and loves to play golf and tennis whenever he can squeeze a game in.
James is a non-executive director for several property investment companies.
