Andrew Cox is a highly experienced corporate and employment specialist who founded and ran a successful business law firm for over 30 years before joining Excello Law in 2025.

Andrew has acted for a huge range of SME businesses and senior individuals, chiefly in the Midlands, for his whole career. He builds lasting relationships with his business clients right from start-up up advice through to eventual company sale, and is appreciated for providing a valuable “in-house” legal role for many.
He acts for numerous executive and professional clients over their contracts and exit strategies, including restrictive covenants and settlement agreements.
Andrew is very approachable and has the reputation of taking a plain down-to-earth approach to business transactions and problems, keeping them straightforward and cost-effective whilst always protecting his clients.
Andrew's Experience
- Acted for the sellers on a tricky share sale of a Midlands-based IT business. The transaction involved difficult buyers – as is often the case – and needed a robust negotiating position and a lot of support for the client, but was ultimately taken to a successful completion with satisfied clients.
- Represented both sellers and buyers in a wide variety of family-owned companies, guiding them through unfamiliar territory and usually to a successful deal.
- Guided senior executive over a complex and high-value settlement agreement involving various share and bonus schemes, negotiation over restrictive covenants and requiring careful tax planning.
- Supported clients in reviewing and negotiating complex service and procurement contracts, often with an international element, including negotiating directly over key terms.
Outside of work, Andrew is a keen runner, having competed in many events over the years, and an avid football fan. When he can get away, he loves nothing more than adventure travel and is often to be found poring over maps planning his next escapade.
