Firm now able to offer commercial clients private client advice for the first time
Excello Law, the fast-growing commercial law firm, has widened the scope of its client offering with two new hires, commercial property lawyer Madelene Schofield-Whittingham and private client lawyer Dawn Joughin.
Dawn Joughin, who joins the firm’s recently opened Liverpool office, specialises in private client work. Her appointment means that Excello Law will be able to offer its commercial clients private client advice for the first time.
Dawn joins from Canter Levin & Berg in Liverpool, where she headed the private client team for six years. She advises on estate planning, trusts, estate administration, wills, contentious probate and Court of Protection matters. She has a particular specialism in advising elderly clients and has been a member of Solicitors for the Elderly since 2007. She acts as an attorney under Lasting Powers of Attorney on behalf of elderly clients in residential care, managing their property and financial affairs.
Madelene joins the firm from Martin Kaye in Shropshire, where she headed up the commercial property team. She has over 20 years’ experience advising commercial and residential developers across the country, including a national house-builder. She advises on the legal aspects of site acquisition through to the sale of developed-out units as well as having expertise in the refinancing of portfolios or single sites, managing landlord and tenant lease portfolios, and acting for commercial landlords and tenants in the grant, assignment and termination of leases. Madelene has also acted for numerous company-owner retirement pension funds and has a number of agricultural clients.
With these latest hires Excello Law continues to steadily grow its presence across the UK and internationally with recent office openings in Liverpool and Leeds and an alliance with US firm Rimon.
The firm’s managing director, George Bisnought, says: “Dawn and Madelene bring with them a wealth of experience in their respective fields, widening the expertise we are able to offer our commercial clients in both property and private client matters. I am delighted to welcome them to our growing team and hope to make further hires of this calibre in the coming months.”
